Volunteering with kids is a GREAT way to teach them important values and skills, while also making a positive impact in your community. It's an essential way of enhancing compassion in your children and spending quality time together. It's a win-win for everyone involved!
DEVELOPS EMPATHY AND COMPASSION: Volunteering allows kids to see and understand the struggles and needs of others, which can help them develop empathy and compassion. This can be particularly valuable for kids who may not have a lot of exposure to people from different backgrounds or with different experiences
BUILDS SELF-ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE: Volunteering can help kids feel good about themselves and their abilities. It allows them to see that they can make a difference and contribute to their community, which can boost their self-esteem and confidence.
TEACHES RESPONSIBILITY AND LEADERSHIP: Volunteering can help kids learn important life skills, such as responsibility, leadership, and teamwork. These skills can help them become more confident and capable adults.
ENCOURAGES SERVICE AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: Volunteering can help kids develop a sense of service and civic engagement. It can inspire them to become active, engaged members of their community, and to make a positive impact in the world.
CREATES LASTING MEMORIES AND BONDS: Volunteering as a family can create lasting memories and strengthen family bonds. It's a great way to spend quality time together and to make a difference in the lives of others.

HELP OUT AT A LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER: Many animal shelters are in need of volunteers to help care for the animals. This could involve tasks such as feeding, grooming, and walking the animals.
JOIN A COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP EFFORT: Many communities have regular clean-up days to help keep public spaces clean and litter-free. You and your family can join in and make a difference in your community.
HELP OUT AT A SOUP KITCHEN OR FOOD BANK: Many soup kitchens and food banks rely on volunteers to help serve meals and distribute food to those in need. This is a great way to give back and make a difference in your community.
VOLUNTEER AT A SCHOOL OR AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM: Many schools and after-school programs are in need of volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, such as tutoring, reading to children, assisting with art projects and outings like community walks or field trips like a day at the zoo. While this doesn’t exactly offer volunteer opportunities for kids it does show them you are there for them in their day-to-day life. They’ll be excited to have you with them at school.
HELP OUT AT A SENIOR CENTRE: Senior centres often need volunteers to help with activities, such as playing games, reading, or leading exercise classes. This is a great way to spend time with and make a difference in the lives of older members of your community.
Check with your local community, city, state or province hub for resources on areas that are in need of volunteers right now. Trust me, there is never a shortage of need but not enough hands + feet helping out.
