To make a building stand strong, you need a solid foundation. If the foundation is cracked, the whole thing falls apart. Without it, nothing lasts.
Growing up, my family's foundation was the dinner table. We'd spend hours playing card games together, just talking and laughing.
But a few years ago, I noticed a crack in my own home's foundation. We moved from the table to the TV. And eventually, straight down to the screens in our hands.
My wife and I would sit side-by-side on the couch, lost in separate digital worlds.
And worse? I was doing it to my kids.
I’d be at my son's soccer game, staring at my phone. He'd look over, hoping I saw his big play. But I was scrolling.
"What are you doing on your phone, Dad?"
I was frustrated. Embarrassed. Ashamed. I was missing their childhoods for a stupid screen. The comfort of infinite scrolling had completely hijacked my ability to be present.
I was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Thankfully, the surgery was a success and it was removed cleanly. But in the quiet, terrifying hours before they wheeled me in for surgery, a thought hit me:

Thankfully, the surgery was a success and it was removed cleanly. But in the quiet, terrifying hours before they wheeled me in for surgery, a thought hit me:
"If I don't make it, will my kids just remember me as the grumpy dad staring at his phone?"
I refused to be that guy. I wanted to fix my family's foundation.
We had already started fighting back against the digital drift, and this moment only solidified my resolve. At dinner, instead of asking "How was your day?", I planned out fun, unexpected questions.
And a funny thing happened. The kids leaned in.
It didn't matter if the question was silly or serious. When they felt I was really listening, they were completely, wonderfully all in.
Those early, playful questions that our kids loved eventually became the foundation for our best-selling Family pack.

I tried it with my wife, slipping interesting questions into everyday moments, like washing the dishes together. Within days, she remarked about how much closer she felt and how much more interesting I was being (#winning!).
Conversation was suddenly more addictive than our phones.
And the exact prompts that brought the spark back to our kitchen counter later grew into the Couples pack.
But when I looked for tools to help us keep it up, everything was either a dense psychology textbook, or boring yes/no questions.

What if I took this transformational experience, backed it with real psychology, and put it into a simple deck of cards?
I called it Talking Point Cards.
I sought out family therapists, marriage counselors, and psychologists to help develop, review and refine the questions. I wanted to remove all the guesswork and ensure every card was backed by real expertise.
The decades of expertise baked into Talking Point Cards gives you confidence. Confidence to spark a great conversation, knowing you won't get one-word answers (and no awkward silences either).
Why is this important?
Because no one wants to feel disconnected in their own home.
When your family is truly connected, you build a foundation that lasts a lifetime. You create a home filled with inside jokes, deep trust, and kids who actually want to hang out with you when they grow up.
And anyone can be the hero of their family's connection. There is nothing quite like seeing your loved one's eyes light up as they share a piece of their heart you've never heard before. It just takes having the right tools on hand, and the willingness to ask a question.
They've now found their way into more than 1 million homes, schools and offices around the globe.
To parents, spouses, teachers, therapists, social workers, coaches, counsellors, leaders and friends. The list is endless. You can read why our customers love us here.
They're winning awards like the Mom's Choice Award and the Autism Live award.
But the best part? The 15,000+ stories we’ve received from couples talking again after months of silence, parents discovering who their teenagers are actually becoming, and families finally enjoying long car rides together filled with laughter instead of everyone wearing headphones.
So what started as a desperate attempt to put my own phone down has grown into a global mission to help families truly connect. Today, we're constantly researching, testing, and perfecting new decks to help you effortlessly build real, face-to-face relationships.
Thanks for stopping by and listening to my story.

When I'm not creating tools to help people connect, you'll find me hiking through the beautiful bushland of the Southern Highlands in Australia, or trying (with varying degrees of success) to learn the guitar.
Don't just take my word for it. Choose who you want to connect with, flip a card, and ask them this exact question tonight.
