WHAT'S INSIDE THE GUIDE
One is for understanding their world. One is for your own phone. One is for the conversation. One is for the agreement you make together. Most families need all four, in that order.
CONVERSATION GUIDE
Teen Tech Decoder
Five dimensions of their digital world and the questions that open each one, from what they watch to who they compare themselves to. Built for the car and the dinner table, not an interrogation. The premise: don't decode the apps, decode the experience.
Best used: When you feel out of touch with what they're actually doing online.
CHEAT SHEET
Digital Balance
Five habits of digital leadership for your own phone, because teens learn boundaries from watching you rather than being told. Includes visible boundaries, scroll-to-connection swaps, a Calm Screen Checklist and a script for repairing it when you slip.
Best used: When you've told them to get off their phone while holding your own.
TEMPLATE
Tech Talk Framework
Three questions, ten minutes, weekly. What's working, what's felt off, and what one small thing you'd adjust. Starts with what's going well, which is why it doesn't turn into a fight. Includes a Calm Start script and parent scripts for the common flashpoints.
Best used: When every mention of screen time turns into a power struggle.
TEMPLATE
Screen Contract
A five-step process for writing agreements together rather than handing down rules - including letting your teen help set the consequences. Includes a Trust Ladder showing how freedom gets earned back, and a monthly Tech Talk to keep it current.
Best used: When the same argument keeps repeating and the current rules aren't holding.
WHY USE THE GUIDE
It starts with your phone, not theirs
This is the part most parents skip, and it's why the rules keep failing. Teens don't learn tech boundaries from being told - they learn them from watching. Every scroll at dinner and every "just one second" is teaching them what normal adulthood looks like. One of the four guides is entirely about your own habits: visible boundaries, narrating your own self-control out loud, and a three-step script for repairing it when you slip. Credibility isn't perfection. It's honesty.
Start with what's going well, or it becomes a fight
Most tech talks go sideways because they open with fear or frustration, and the teenager hears an accusation before you've finished the sentence. The Tech Talk Framework opens with "what's working for you lately?" - which tells them you're not waiting to pounce. Then what's felt off, then one small thing to adjust this week. Ten minutes, weekly. The consistency does the work, not the intensity.
Agreements hold, rules don't
When you police screen use, your teen resists. When they help write the boundary, they buy in. The Family Screen Contract runs a five-step process where you define the why together, write agreements that start with "we agree to" rather than "you must", and let your teen help set the consequences. There's a Trust Ladder showing how freedom gets earned back after a slip - so a broken agreement is a reset, not a punishment.

QUESTIONS WE HEAR MOST
Immediately after purchase you'll receive an email with download links for all four PDFs. You can read them on your phone or tablet, save them to your camera roll, or print them at home.
No, and that's deliberate. The Teen Tech Decoder is built around decoding the experience rather than the platform - what they watch, who they talk to, what makes them feel good or left out. You don't need to know what the app is called to ask good questions about how it makes them feel.
Start with the one that needs no participation from them. The Modeling Digital Balance Cheat Sheet is entirely about your own habits, and teens notice a change in a parent's phone use long before they'll discuss their own. The Tech Talk Framework is three questions you can ask in a car, not a scheduled meeting.
Only if you write it alone. The process in the Family Screen Contract has your teen help define the purpose, phrase the agreements, and set the consequences - including what repair looks like after a slip. That's the difference between a rule they resist and an agreement they helped build.
Then you're the right person for this. One of the four guides is written for exactly that, including a repair script for when you catch yourself half-listening mid-scroll. Teens don't need a perfect parent. They need a self-aware one.
Currently these are digital-only, which means instant access and no waiting. You can print them yourself at home.

OVER ONE MILLION FAMILIES STRENGTHENED
My 10 year old grand daughter loves these cards. I haven’t managed to engage the 10 year old boy or the 7 year old boy. Is thereany idea I could use?
I have had these for a little over a week with the hope of sparking more interaction with my teens during meals. My 13-year-old will often pull cards out of the stack during the day at random to share her thoughts or ask others. I highly recommend purchasing these cards and placing them where your family hangs out the most.
